Best defined as Cosmopolitan KurdesqueAdir Jan is a melting pot of Western Asian sounds and rhythms, eclectically combined with traditional, progressive pop, rock and psychedelic harmonies. Described by the Tagesspiegel as a “bridge-builder bard,” the Berlin-based singer-songwriter unfolds, through playful arrangements, complex rhythms, and multilayered melodies, a distinctive sound world that oscillates between sorrow and ecstasy, disappointment and desire, longing and resistance.

His music is playful, unpredictable, and always deeply human.

Whether in Zaza, Kurmancî Kurdish, Turkish, or German (among others), his delicate yet powerful and deeply emotional vocals and passionate lyrics convey the timelessness and transcultural relevance of political resistance and queer desires, expressed through traditional forms with a contemporary sensibility.

Adir Jan’s lyrics revolve mostly around queer love and passion, pleasure and pain,
but also highlight social issues, such as war, homophobia and racism.

His message is clear: universal love!

Since being named among the “Top 20 Indie Artists of Middle Eastern Music” in 2014 and praised by VICE.com as “The new faces of Kurdish art rock,” Adir Jan has gained international recognition.
His debut album Leyla reached the Top 100 of the Transglobal World Music Charts in 2019, establishing him as one of the most exciting voices in the global music scene.

His music is as cosmopolitan as his audience.

2019 his first album "Leyla" was published by Trikont and Bgst Records, so is his recent album "Al Mast" due to good collaboration in 2025 published by Trikont again.

“He calls his music ‘Cosmopolitan Kurdesque.’ It’s a hugely enjoyable, knowing mix of styles where Kurdish melodies and instruments meet upbeat rock, with elements of Western art music thrown in… One imagines a great live atmosphere, a festival winner, where everyone dances together deliriously, proclaiming universal love.”
